In a society where personal appearance holds significant value, individuals often find themselves bothered by the presence of a double chin. Whether attributed to weight gain, aging, or genetics, the accumulation of submental fat can be a source of self-consciousness. However, there is good news for those seeking to address this concern without invasive procedures or costly treatments. A yoga expert, Mithlesh Kumar, with 25 years of experience, has shared effective face exercises known as Face Yoga that can help reduce and eliminate a double chin.
Face Yoga exercises can be conveniently practiced in the comfort of one’s home or even at the office. The key requirement is the determination to follow a specific set of exercises consistently. With just two months of dedication, individuals can witness an impressive transformation in their facial fat, leading to a more toned and chiseled appearance, particularly in the chin area.
To ensure that individuals receive proper guidance, Mithlesh Kumar suggests engaging a personal yoga teacher who can assist in performing the right yoga poses, especially for beginners. Kumar explains that there are separate yoga exercises tailored for different genders, age groups, and desired outcomes. By engaging in these exercises, individuals stimulate blood circulation in their face, strengthen and tighten their facial muscles, ultimately resulting in a more defined and toned chin.
For women in the age bracket of 40 to 50 who may have experienced changes due to motherhood, Kumar recommends the following yoga guidelines:
- Bhujangasana (Cobra Stretch): Lift your face gently upwards while holding your chin for 10 to 30 seconds. Repeat this exercise 3 to 5 times, two to three times a week. Visible results should be expected after three months of regular practice.
- Lion Pose – The Simha Mudra: This pose enhances blood circulation around the face and tightens facial muscles. With your hands placed on your thighs, sit up straight, take a deep breath, and stick your tongue out. Direct your gaze towards the center of your eyebrows while emitting a loud sound imitating a lion’s roar. Practice this posture at least 5 times.
- Smile from your heart: A radiant, wide smile is an effective way to eliminate a double chin. Sit up straight, smile as wide as possible, engage your cheek muscles, and maintain the pose for 10-15 seconds. Then, pout and hold the pose for 10 seconds. Repeat this exercise 4 to 5 times a day.
- Make a fish face: Purse your lips and cheeks until your mouth resembles that of a fish. Suck in as much as possible, expelling all the air from your mouth. Afterward, move your head in various directions—right, left, up, and down. Repeat this exercise 4-5 times a day.
Mithlesh Kumar emphasizes that yoga can effectively reduce a double chin; however, results may vary depending on factors such as body type, lifestyle, diet, and genetics. Individuals should be patient as it may take time for the results to become noticeable. It is crucial to combine face yoga exercises with quality sleep, a balanced diet, and regular exercise sessions (around 3-5 times a week) to address the issue holistically.
By adopting these face yoga exercises and making necessary lifestyle adjustments, individuals can take control of their appearance, leading to a more confident and toned facial profile.
